Request files from someone
A file request lets a client or partner upload material to a selected folder without a ClodDoc account. The sender sees an upload form, not the folder’s contents or other people’s files.
You need Edit permission on the folder to create a request. Received files belong to the request creator and go through the usual security checks.
Create a request
Section titled “Create a request”- Open the destination folder and select Request files. The command is also available in the folder’s actions menu.
- Choose Allowed files:
- Documents and images - PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, and supported images.
- Images and PDF - supported images and PDF.
- All supported - every format in the general upload format list.
- Set Per file, up to, from 1 to 1024 MiB. The default is 100 MiB.
- Set Total, up to for the request’s total allowance. The form accepts 1-100 GB and defaults to 2 GB. For these limits, the application counts 1 GB as 1024 MiB.
- Set Link expires on. The default is one week, with a maximum lifetime of 30 days.
- Leave Verify email with a code selected if senders should confirm ownership of their email address.
- Select Create request, then Copy link, and send the URL to the person.
Copy the URL immediately. The full address cannot be retrieved again from the request list. If you lose it, create another request and revoke the old one.
Send files through a request
Section titled “Send files through a request”You can send these instructions with the link:
- Open the full URL from the message.
- If verification is required, enter Your work email and select Get code.
- Enter the six-digit Code from email and select Continue. The code is valid for 10 minutes.
- Check the expiration date, per-file limit, and remaining allowance on the upload page.
- Select Choose files and choose your material. Follow its progress in the transfer queue.
- Wait until each file says Received for scanning.
You can pause, resume, or cancel a transfer. If a page reload requires you to choose the file again, select the same original file without changes. To reopen the request, use the original link: its secret portion is removed from the browser’s address bar after opening.
Check arrivals and close the request
Section titled “Check arrivals and close the request”Open the destination folder in ClodDoc and wait for received files to become ready. File requests lists requests you created, their expiration dates, received amounts, and total allowances.
Select Revoke request when collection is complete. Further uploads become unavailable; files already accepted remain in the folder. A request also closes when it expires or its allowance is exhausted.
If sending fails
Section titled “If sending fails”- The file exceeds the available limit. Check both the per-file limit and remaining total allowance. The organizer can create another request if needed.
- This file type is not allowed by the recipient. Choose an allowed format. Renaming an extension does not change the contents.
- Request unavailable. Ask the organizer to check whether the request expired or was revoked, or to send a new URL.
- The code did not arrive. Check the address and junk folder. Repeated attempts may require a waiting period.
